New Blog?

I've been thinking of a new type of blog lately. A blog based, of course, on a facet of my life that I find interesting...something, of course, that I feel others might find interesting.  What I'm referring to is an aspect of a person's life where they expound unique wisdom, or at the very least, true feelings because they are inebreated ("Drunk" for the layman.)

I've come up with a couple of ideas for a title, "Drunken Words," "Drunken Poetry," "Drunken Wisdom," among them, but still haven't pinned down my catch phrase. The cool thing about it would be the plethora of very interesting posts from those who were drunk at the time of writing. It sort of goes along with the (Budweiser, wasn't it?) commercials of late where party goers spoke the cold, hard truth to those they were with. Things come out when your drunk, things you would never say elsewise. This, above all else, is why I think this would be such a great idea.

It doesn't have to be all good, of course.  The simple idiocy of some drunkard's attempts at writing, rife with spelling errors and mumbled grammer, would be entertaining as it is, but the rare gem found in someone's gut-wrenching expose where nothing is sacred would be exquisite.  There is also much room for comedic, sarcastic, inspirational, or morose posts to enrich (or entertain) our lives. It is when life is distilled down to that basic truth that it becomes most interesting, I think. As a society, we seem compelled to present our "best" face to the world and , in my opinion, that is so obviously a facade.

Is it such a chore to believe me when I say that when I see grief, oppression, poverty, and despair, I see truth? To me, it is when our life is deconstructed down to the most basic principles that we exert our most sacred beliefs. There is no more room for posing, or fronting (as say may call it,) it is a matter of raw truth and survival at that point. Hence, the allure of my "Drunken Poetry" site.

So, I'm curious what eveyone else thinks...I happen to be pretty drunk at the moment, which makes me wonder if I've spoken any truths that would otherwise not have seen the light of day. Would my readers discard this blog as idle rhetoric, or is their some raw truth to it?...curious.

Why I hate Steam!

I'm sitting here waiting for a game to launch in Steam and I figured, "why not?", let's blog about how I hate what Steam does.

I first signed up with Steam when I purchased Half-Life 2, which I think is about when they first started. That wasn't so much of a problem, and years later when I wanted to play the game again and found that (for some reason) I didn't have my disc 1 of the game, it was nice to be able to download and install the game purely from my Steam login. Well, that was a while ago...

Since then, I've purchased a few more games off of Steam. The latest of which is Dragon Age: Origins, which is what I'm currently waiting to play...So why do I really hate Steam right now? First off, I already installed the game, activated all of the content, and have also downloaded a few updates. All I really want to do right now is play the god damn game, yet when I launch it, I'm greeted with a Steam prompt saying it has to install it. Well, first off, fuck you, it's already installed. What you probably meant to say is that there's an update...fine, but fix your shit and say what you really mean, oh, and by the way, I just updated it a few days ago when I last played it. Why the hell are you making me wait for you to "install" (update) it, when you could easily just ask if I'd like to update it? It's not like this game is online only! It worked before, there's no reason it shouldn't work now.

Legos for adults?

I just changed my template design so that it's somewhat personalized. Since I had few pictures available to me at the moment, I used a screenshot of "The Moaning Caverns" from my minecraft server...which inspires me to post a quick jot about minecraft. If you haven't heard of minecraft yet, it's like a [computer] game of Legos for adults (at least that's the way I see it...I'm sure kids would argue that point.) ...and no, I don't mean that kind of 'adult.'

The game is developed by Mojang and is currently available in it's beta form, but is due to be fully released on 11-11-11. Markus Persson (aka Notch) created the game and is the primary developer for it. I've created a private server at minecraft.nathanallshouse.com where some of my family and friends, and I play.

I did it for the LOLs

Well, isn't that just like me to jump on the bandwagon of some cool new thing, setup an account, make some weak initial effort, and then ignore it for quite some time...years in this case.

I guess it's safe to say that I'm not much of a blogger. In fact, it's probably pretty safe to say that I'm not much of a...what does one call what I'm thinking of...what is someone who is quite extroverted on the Internet? an Interextrovert?...I digress. Let's just say I'm not very prolific in my posting, blogging, tweeting, or other.

Anyways, I just wanted to add this post just to make sure that I could, and I guess so that I can lol about it in another 5 years or so when I see it.

I did it for the LOLs!

This is my first blog everyone, so it may take me a while to get things situated and created. Bear with me and hopefully it will all be worth the wait in the end :)
